A single dose in mice resulted in a large amount of cancerous cells being killed when exposed to glyphosate. The amount of growth inhibition (how much cancer cells grow without dying) was increased by three to five times in mice exposed to a single dose.

Dr Luc Fournier, a bioethical researcher at INSOM, said the results showed that glyphosate could be "effectively used to kill cancer cells."

"What it shows is that, for example, this can kill certain kinds of cancer cells in cells, with the lowest level of toxicity for humans."
